CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS is a combination of Benzocaine and Chloramphenicol which belongs to the group of medicines called Local Anesthetics and Antibiotics respectively. CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS is used to manage bacterial infections of the external ear (otitis externa).
Otitis externa is a condition that causes inflammation (redness and swelling) of the external ear canal, which is the tube between the outer ear and eardrum. It is often called as swimmer's ear because repeated exposure to water can make the ear canal more vulnerable to inflammation. Your doctor may advise you to take relevant tests to understand your existing condition.
CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS is not recommended for use if you have burst in your ear drum. Before using CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS inform your doctor if you have blood disorders (anemia) or bone marrow problems. There are limited information available on the use of CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS during pregnancy and breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine. The most common side effects of CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS includes temporary itching, burning or irritation of the ear. How CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS Works
CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS is a combination of Benzocaine and Chloramphenicol. Benzocaine is a local anesthetic which numbs the pain by blocking the nerve signals in your body and used to manage pain and irritation caused by ear infection or injury. Chloramphenicol belongs to antibiotics used to manage superficial bacterial infections caused by bacteria susceptible to this medicine’s action. It works against the growth of bacteria causing the infection.
How to use CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS
Always use CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS as recommended by your doctor. It is for external use only. Instil a few drops of the medicine into the ear. Use this medicine in the affected ear only.

Common
- temporary itching, burning or irritation of the ear
Stop using CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- rash, hives, itching, red or swollen or blistered or peeling skin
- wheezing, tightness in the chest or throat, trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking, unusual hoarseness, or swelling of the mouth, face lips, tongue, or throat

Q: If I forgot to use CHLOROMYCETIN E/E DROPS?
A: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not use 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
