    Introduction About BIOSCAB LOTION

    BIOSCAB LOTION contains Cetrimide and Gamma benzene hexachloride which belong to the group of medicines called Antiseptics and Antiparasitic drugs respectively. It is used for the management of Scabies (skin infection with itchy skin rashes caused by mites), Pediculosis (infestation of scalp caused by eggs, larvae, or adults of lice) and Lice.

    It is advised to avoid person to person contact and sharing of clothes and utensils with infected persons to avoid the risk of spreading of scabies and lice. It is not recommended to use BIOSCAB LOTION if you have fits, allergy to any of its ingredients, open, broken, or cranky skin. Before using BIOSCAB LOTION inform your doctor if you have HIV or AIDS, had a history of fits or conditions like head injury, tumor in your brain or spinal cord, cirrhosis of the liver, or heavy alcohol drinking.

    BIOSCAB LOTION is not recommended to be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless it is clearly necessary. Do not use BIOSCAB LOTION to manage a premature infant or young baby and elderly patients. Most common side effects of using BIOSCAB LOTION include tingling, itching, burning in skin, and skin rashes. Consult a doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.

    Uses Of BIOSCAB LOTION

    It is used to manage:

    • scabies (skin infection with itchy skin rashes caused by mites)
    • pediculosis (infestation of scalp caused by eggs, larvae, or adults of lice)
    • lice

    How BIOSCAB LOTION Works

    BIOSCAB LOTION contains Cetrimide and Gamma benzene hexachloride. Cetrimide is an antiseptic agent that kills disease causing bacteria. Gamma benzene hexachloride is an insecticide that kills insects by damaging the brain of mites.

    How to use BIOSCAB LOTION

    Apply BIOSCAB LOTION as advised by your physician. It is for external use only. Shake well before use. Wash your hands before applying BIOSCAB LOTION. Take adequate amounts of medicine and apply on affected areas (apply on the entire body in cases of scabies). Wash off completely with warm water after 8-12 hours.

    Read the instructions within the label before using the medicine. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, and mouth. Avoid making your skin too oily by applying creams while using BIOSCAB LOTION. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of BIOSCAB LOTION

    Common

    • itching or irritation of skin
    • skin rashes
    • burning or redness of skin
    • tingling or numbness of skin

    Rare

    Stop using BIOSCAB LOTION and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • fits (mainly associated with prolonged use of medicine)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Skin rash Or Itching

    Apply a cool compress or wet cloth over the burned area. Apply moisturizers if required. Contact the doctor if it is not subsiding.

    Pregnancy

    Contraindicated

    BIOSCAB LOTION is not recommended to use if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant unless it is considered clearly necessary due to the lack of safety data. Consult your doctor before using BIOSCAB LOTION.

    Breastfeeding

    Contraindicated

    BIOSCAB LOTION is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. If you use BIOSCAB LOTION, pump your breast milk and throw away the milk for at least 24 hours after using the medicine.

    During this time, feed your baby formula or breast milk you stored before you used this medicine. Consult a doctor before using it.

    Liver

    Use with Caution

    BIOSCAB LOTION should be used with caution if you have cirrhosis of the liver. Consult your doctor before using.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not use BIOSCAB LOTION if you are allergic to Cetrimide, Gamma benzene hexachloride or any other constituents of this medicine. Consult your doctor before using BIOSCAB LOTION.

    Others

    It is not recommended to use BIOSCAB LOTION if you have:

    • open, broken, or cranky skin
    • fits

    Before using BIOSCAB LOTION inform your doctor if you have:

    • HIV or AIDS
    • history of fits or conditions like head injury, tumour in your brain or spinal cord
    • heavy alcohol drinking habit
    • a sexual partner

    Use in paediatrics:

    BIOSCAB LOTION should be used with extreme caution in premature infants and young children. Consult a doctor before using it for children.

    Use in geriatrics

    BIOSCAB LOTION is not recommended in elderly patients due to the lack of safety data. Consult a doctor before using it.

    Interactions

    A. Drug – drug interactions:

    Before using BIOSCAB LOTION inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • antipsychotics (medicines used to manage mental disorders. Ex. chlorpromazine, haloperidol)
    • antidepressants (medicines used to manage depression. Ex. Citalopram, escitalopram)
    • theophylline (medicine used to manage wheezing, shortness of breath)
    • cyclosporin, mycophenolate mofetil, tacrolimus capsules (medicines used to manage transplant rejection)
    • penicillin, imipenem, quinolone antibiotics (medicines used to manage bacterial infection)
    • chloroquine sulfate (medicine used to manage malaria)
    • pyrimethamine (medicine used to manage parasitic infection called toxoplasmosis)
    • isoniazid (medicine used to manage tuberculosis)
    • meperidine (medicine used to relieve moderate to severe pain)
    • methocarbamol (medicine used to relieve Musculo-skeletal pain)
    • centrally active anticholinesterases (Ex. rivastigmine, donepezil)
    • radiographic contrast agents (Ex. iodine, barium sulfate)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally apply too much BIOSCAB LOTION, consult your doctor immediately.
